History

Our history dates back to the founding of Citibank in 1812, Bank Handlowly in 1870, Smith Barney in 1873, Banamex in 1884, and Salomon Brothers in 1910. Citicorp and Travelers merged in 1998 to become Citigroup Inc.

Citigroup Inc., a corporation organised and existing under the laws of the State of Delaware, is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Citi has two primary business segments: Citicorp and Citi Holdings. Citicorp consists of our Regional Consumer Banking businesses and Institutional Clients Group (Global Banking, Global Markets, Global Transaction Services, Citi Private Bank and Citi Capital Advisors).
